AIA Bronx Kingsbridge Armory Competition

2023 Bronx AIA Empowerment Scholarship Winners

The Bronx Chapter of the AIA is proud to announce the results of the student competition: The Kingsbridge

Armory as a Vertical Farming Facility. The chapter sponsored and organized an advanced studio at CCNY’s Spitzer School of Architecture to create designs for the adaptive reuse of the Kingsbridge Armory, one of the largest in the world.


Four teams of student teams competed showcasing their proposed integration of vertical farming into the landmark structure. The distinguished jury members selected Team G1 as the competition winner:


• Shiva Abbaszadeh

• Kingsley Chong

• Wyatt Scott Kuebler


$1,200 was awarded to the winning team; $600 to the runner-up Team G4.

2023 Bronx AIA Empowerment Scholarship Winners

The Bronx Chapter of the AIA is delighted to announce four $1,000 Empowerment Scholarships  for outstanding student achievement for 2023. The Chapter awarded two scholarships for architecture students at the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York, and two scholarships for architecture students at Pratt Institute's School of Architecture.

Bronx AIA Empowerment Scholarship Winners for 2022

The Bronx Chapter of the AIA is delighted to announce the winners of its first two $1,000 Scholarships  for outstanding student achievement at the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York. I wanted to thank you for granting me the 2022 Bronx AIA Empowerment Award. It is truly an honor to receive this award. I know it will help me finish my academic career at SSA with more diligence, motivating me to maintain a positive work ethic in school.
